Coherent Systems are offering a Belcanto CD2 player transport for sale. These are highly sort after units, they delivery real high end sound for a relaistic outlay, very few appear on the market these days. A real star in the digital replay world. This unit we originally sold new to a chap in 2008, it has passed hands a few times over the years. I have totally rebuilt this unit from the ground up including a brand-new Philips CD Pro mechanism (£1200 each). Total & vastly improved recap, i/v stages improvements clocking circuit optimisation, over 50 items changed and others added.
Replaced the original Belcanto square fronted faceplate with a later radiused corner version (a more pleasing aesthetic here). Make no mistake this is significantly improved over a stock in every aspect. Come with original box and paperwork. Will come with a brand new updated remote control and 12 months warranty.
The Belcanto CD2 has been FULLY tested and benchmarked and exceeds the original specification by a large margin. Remember this unit has a brand new O.E. mechanism which will give many, many years of reliable high quality playback.
Coherent Systems have had a great deal or experience with these players over the last 15 years (With Belcanto brand over 25 years). It does offer rather decent CD playback device using the Cirrus Logic CS4351 dac chip to great effect through a lovely differential i/v stage.
However, it’s real forte’ is being a CD transport which imho it excels at. Using the ubiquitous Philips CD pro 2 mechanism, dedicated clean 12Vdc power, quality clock circuit (sperate rail supply) coupled with a neat PLL/SRC stage using TI parts. Its neat form factor and high qualiity build have won it many friends. The SQ when coupled with a quality dac is very special. It also promises many years trouble free operation.
We have paired this CD2 with one of our very special linear power supplies which sport a fully dual differential a/c filter. dc blockers and programmable soft-start modules, with 120K worth of smoothing and storage with custom SiC diode full bridge and our ultra-low noise customer regulation circuit which can deliver up to 6 amps @ 12Vdc (un this configuration) with a measured ripple noise (At the point of entry on the DUT (CD player ) of between 6-12uA.
