Naim NSC 222 Streaming Preamplifier

Coherent Systems offer the Naim NSC 222 streaming preamplifier from the acclaimed New Classic range. The unit is in absolutely mint, ‘as new’ condition, has seen only light use, includes all original boxes and paperwork, and was purchased from a genuine UK Naim dealer in 2023. The NSC 222 brings Naim’s latest streaming platform, a high-quality DAC, a phono stage and a proper headphone amplifier together in one beautifully built box. It’s the heart of the New Classic system and the matching NPX 300 power supply and NAP 250 power amplifier are also available this week, sold separately.

• Complete streaming platform: Spotify Connect, Tidal Connect, Qobuz, AirPlay 2, Google Cast and internet radio built in, and Roon Ready. Bluetooth aptX Adaptive is included for convenience.
• High-performance DAC: a Burr-Brown DAC with powerful SHARC DSP oversampling, handling high-res PCM and DSD128. What Hi-Fi rates it on a par with a £1,500 standalone converter.
• Flexible connectivity: coaxial (BNC and RCA) and two optical digital inputs, analogue RCA and DIN inputs, and USB for local storage. Outputs are on both balanced XLR and RCA.
• Built-in phono stage: a quiet, high-quality moving magnet stage, so a turntable plugs straight in.
• Discrete headphone amplifier: a 1.5W discrete transistor design, effectively a miniature Naim power amplifier for headphones.
• Precision volume control: a 100-step discrete-resistor volume stage that is completely silent across its full range.
• Display and control: a 5.5-inch full-colour display, a radio-linked remote, and the mature, stable Naim app.
• Upgrade path: designed to take Naim’s NPX 300 outboard power supply. One is available here now, sold separately.

Expert Perspectives

Reviewers have been full of praise for the NSC 222. What Hi-Fi awarded it five stars across sound, build and features, calling it a terrific all-rounder that performs to a high standard from every source: streaming, phono, analogue or digital. Stereophile and The Ear also reviewed it at length, highlighting its build, its flexibility and how much the NPX 300 adds as an upgrade.

Your chance to own one of the most complete high-end streaming preamplifiers available, for sensible outlay.
